First Communion

For in the blessed Eucharist is contained the whole spiritual good of the Church, namely Christ himself, our Pasch'." CCC 1324
All Classes will take place at Nativity of Mary Catholic Church

Students will make their First Confession on February 21, 2025, at 5 p.m. at Nativity of Mary Catholic Church.

Students will receive their First Holy Communion on May 4, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Nativity of Mary Catholic Church.
Instruction and preparation for First Communion takes place in our Parish School of Religion. In the Parish School of Religion, students will deepen their understanding of God, experience His immense love, and learn how to live a faith-filled life.

Curriculum Details:
- Program: We will use the Augustine Institute's Word of Life Series, a comprehensive, modern, and interactive curriculum.
- Materials: Students will receive both physical and digital copies of their textbooks. These textbooks are available in a bilingual format, with English and Spanish presented side by side.
- Online Access: Students will have access to an online portal to complete activities and watch educational videos.
- Parental Involvement: The curriculum includes resources for parents, summarizing class discussions, and offering ideas for engaging conversations with your child.
Registration Fee:
- Cost: The registration fee is $30 per child, covering the cost of the textbook.

Classes are held on the following Wednesdays from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Nativity of Mary Catholic Church and School:

Class Requirements:
1. Parents must be registered parishioners at either Nativity of Mary Catholic Church or St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church.
  - If registered at another parish, parents must provide a letter of permission from their pastor to enroll their child.
2. Children must be in at least the second grade to enroll in the First Communion program.
3. Children must be enrolled and attend all classes. Absences are not excused except for illness, emergency, or bereavement. If you know your child will miss class, you must notify Cameron Engelbrecht beforehand.
4. Completion of all assigned activities and assessments is required.
5. Parents must attend the Invitation Retreat on February 8 at Nativity of Mary.
6. Students are required to participate in a Eucharistic procession on the day of their First Communion.
7. The registration fee must be paid in full.
8. If the child was not baptized at Nativity of Mary or St. Bernadette Catholic Church, parents must provide a certificate of baptism by January 15.
